Christophe Pratiffi was born in the Lorraine Region of France. He discovered his passion for playing the guitar when he was just 5 years old and began his musical studies under the tutelage of James Szura at the Conservatoire National of the Metz Region (France). When he finished his studies in 1998 the jury unanimously awarded him the Gold Medal. Gerard Abiton and Olivier Bensa from Montbéliard France awarded him the top prize for excellence and outstanding achievement in the region.
Christophe made his first international debut when he was just 17 years old. Since the age of 21 he has become an acclaimed soloist in demand on the international scene. Christophe Pratiffi has always been interested in chamber music. He has collaborated with various artists of international renown such as les Violons du Roy (Canada), The Arthur Leblanc Quartet (Canada), Alvaro Pierri (Uruguay), Richard Paré (Canada) the pipa virtuoso Yadong Guan (Chine), the flutist Gaspar Hoyos (Colombie), composers Jaime Cordoba (Colombie) and Claude Gagnon (Canada), David Jacques (Canada). He has also collaborated with conductor including Jacques Lacombe (Canada) Fernand Quattrocchi (France)...
His personal motto "the search for beauty", Christophe always aims to bring out the best in his playing. This search led to memorable and inspiring encounters with the Argentinian guitarist Roberto Aussel, and then with the Uruguayan Guitarist, Alvaro Pierri, under whose tutelage and supervision he perfected the art of the guitar and earned his Masters Degree in interpretation from Université Laval in Québec City and Montreal (Canada).
With his love for the diversity and musical richness of compositions that have contributed to the evolution of the classical guitar, Christophe includes in his repertoire a wide variety of musical styles from the baroque to the classics to modern music. A consummate musician, his graceful playing has the elegance, sophistication and sensibility of a master.
Interested and concerned to foster and promote his art, he taught classical guitar at the Musical Academy of the Valley of Vologne (Vosges, France) in summer sessions from 2003-2007. Since 2008 he has been teaching classical guitar at the Sainte-Foy College in Quebec, Canada.
Presently established in Quebec City, Christophe currently performs as a soloist and in a duo with the Quebec guitar player David Jacques.
